This is a lovely country blessed with indescribable beauty,majestic mountain ranges and valleys, several waterfalls, lakes, rivers, beautiful coastlines, indigenous forests, an abundance of flora, spectacular passes, lovely beaches, mineral springs, and caves. It's home of a wide variety of birds,wildlife and marine life.

South Africa, because of it's historical background, strong Eurocentric influence ( modern infrastructure, historical buildings, towns, houses, churches, etc) along with African and Asian cultures and traditions, is one great and excellent tourist destination catering for everyone: swimming, deepsea fishing, fishing, sporting activities, whale watching, bird watching, animal spotting, sailing, to name a few.

There are a range of fascinating places to visit: history museums, wine estates, flea and craft markets, the Karoo National Park, the Kruger National Park, Knysna Botanical Gardens, historic buildings, Wilderness National Park, Kalahari Gemsbok Park, Table mountain, Waterfront in Cape Town, rock artsites, Anglo Boer war battlesites, open air museums, Robin island, Namaqualand, Union Buildings,.....The list is endless.

Population composition: black 79%( Different tribes: Xhosas, Zulus, Vendas,...); white 9.6%( English, Afrikaners, Germans, Italians, Jews,....); colored 8.9%; Asian (Indian) 2.5%.

Accommodation

The country offers excellent hotels, lodges, cottages, resorts and bed and breakfast and guest houses. Some cheap, others quite expensive.
