Student Travel

After a long and hard semester, some students choose to unwind and relax in places as far away from their familiar surroundings as possible. Some students go camping; some visit relatives in other states, while some choose to go on a road trip with friends. All of these, of course, involve travelling.

Students travel anywhere from the pristine beaches and hot spots in Florida to the scenic and historic sights of Europe. Surprisingly, some students' ideas of relaxing holidays include places where there are a lot parties and noise. They visit Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, South Padre Islands in Texas, New Orleans, and Mexico. Europe, as mentioned, is also one of the most popular destinations for students. They visit cafes, museums, historical castles, and even the city's red-light districts.

Others travel to experience something different, like a trek to Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa; a white water rafting trip in Australia; and even a tour in the Big Apple to see the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Fifth Avenue, and Central Park.

Going on a mission to help the less fortunate is also one factor for student travel. They visit countries whose way of life is very different from theirs. They help out by doing volunteer work in schools, communities, and hospitals. They travel and explore other people's cultures with an open mind in order to appreciate the unfamiliar and support the cause.

As always, constant vigilance is recommended when setting into the unknown. Never leave your things unattended, no matter how comfortable you get. Always trust your instincts, for they are seldom wrong. In airports, never do favours for those you hardly know. They might ask you to carry their baggage for them, which you could do not knowing that you are would be carrying illegal drugs. And lastly, as the saying goes, when in Rome, do what the Romans do.
